Housewares that bring joy!
I started Vineyard Haven Home, my housewares line, when a friend with a flower farm opened a small farmstand gallery. I was inspired by the roadside stands selling flowers in old tomato cans. I always loved this simple aesthetic of using what is on hand and celebrating everyday objects, so I recreated the cans in ceramic. These pieces are familiar and humorous, I find objects masquerading as different objects entertaining. The loose style of the painting is friendly and a little mind warping, from a distance they appear to be typical cans, it is only when you get close that you notice that they are ceramic and a bit wonky. I use familiar brands to create a feeling of comfort and connection. I added vintage styles to my line when working with an artist who did an installation in a historic house ( Our Golden Hours, Vincent House, Edgartown, 2025). I love the nostalgic feel to them and how they connect us to the past. I studied Industrial Design at California College of Arts because I believe that the objects we surround ourselves with impact our day to day life. These pieces are meant to bring a little jolt of joy to the everyday.
